Menu 2015: August 31-September 27

AHHHHHHH! Another school year begins on August 31st and I will be am running around like a chicken with my head cut off. In an effort to get school started off on a good note, I will be doing a boatload of crockpot, one-pot, prep ahead, semi-homemade, and simple dishes. I usually struggle with school as I'm not naturally a time-conscious (or organized) person. But we're working on that. :)

Let's get started with what I'm planning for meals over the next several weeks.
August 31-September 6
  • Tater Tot Casserole Skillet (one-pot meal if you have a large cast iron skillet)
  • Spaghetti and meatballs (throw frozen meatballs+jarred sauce in 3 qt. slow cooker with 1/3 cup water on low), steamed veggies (yes, their steam-in-the-bag), side salad (bagged mix), and fresh bread (so easy I can have the kids make it)
  • Jambalaya (one-pot dish)
  • Chicken taco soup (slow cooker)
  • P.F. Changs (celebrating the end of the first week of school with our free kids meal coupons from the summer reading program)
  • Carne Asada (I use venison steaks), black beans, and minute brown rice (slow cooker for meat and black beans)
September 7-13
  • Bacon cheese burgers, calico beans, veggie tray, and salad (thankful to have Labor Day off of school)
  • Rotisserie chicken, glazed carrots, and mashed potatoes (slow cooker meal)
  • Knackwurst with cabbage and potatoes (Dutch oven one-pot dish), and green beans
  • Chili (slow cooker red or white) and cast iron cornbread
  • Chicken quesadillas
  • Chicken alfredo, steamed veggies, and side salad
September 14-20
September 21-27
